Why it is built this way

A stone stays in our custody from the rough we buy to the parcel we ship. That single span of custody is what makes the record continuous.

The floor

The stages in the order they happen, each logged against the stone as the work is done, by the department that did it.

01 Galaxy planning The rough is scanned and mapped in 3D, and planned before a facet is cut.

02 Laser marking The plan is written onto the stone, so the cutter works to the model.

03 Sawing The rough is divided along the planned lines.

04 Bruting The round outline is turned — the girdle every later facet is measured from.

05 Blocking The main facets go on: table, bezels, and the first pavilion mains.

06 Automatic polishing Machine polishing, for the facets where repeatability wins.

07 Manual polishing Hand finishing, where judgement wins. This is where excellent is made.

08 Quality check Proportions, symmetry and finish measured against the original plan.

09 Boiling Cleaning, so grading judges the stone itself.

10 Final inspection The last look before the stone joins an assortment line.

Planning

Rough is scanned and modelled in three dimensions before anyone touches it. The model sets where the stone is sawn and what it will yield.

That plan is kept. When a buyer asks why a parcel cut the way it did, we can show them the model it was cut to.
